The Lillian
The Lillian was one of the last wood-frame apartment buildings in Seattle, providing low-income housing to a bevy of young artists, musicians, and workers. It was demolished in 2002 shortly after being acquired by the late Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen, as part of the decades-long gentrification of Seattle's light industrial South Lake Union and Cascade neighborhoods. The Lillian is the story of a fabled bastion of creativity told by its last tenants.
